Let's try a little experiential learning. Respond to this post by describing what you had for breakfast as Samuel Johnson would do it (if he had eaten your breakfast). The goal here is to see how close you can come to imitating Johnson's diction, syntax, and sentence structure.
Deadline: Wednesday (2/18), 10am.

It is, indeed, quickly discoverable that starvation and hunger are opposites, and that, of the two, starvation may serve well to affect us personages most in the times just after the period in which the sun rises, though most frequently, a gripping sense of gastronomical deficiency may, at length, affect our noontime and even post noontime and perhaps even post-post noontime insatiabilities, despite the commonplace distractions of our labor surrounding those periods. It is thus most imperative that breakfast be the most filling, though not stuffingly so, meal of the day.
The reader must take note that this morning I enjoyed a doughy bread roll which had been left sitting atop the pizza box overnight, and though overnight leftovers are typically the breeding sites of common dust mites and airborne pathogens, which, even in the most vivid imagination, live and reproduce beyond the scope of our own microscopes and our finest convex lenses, and though we take great care to sanitize our commendable living spaces nearly each week or month, are always presently inhabiting any proper surface, including those doughy delights, which, because they had hardened, were washed down with the nearest glass of satisfyingly cold water.
