Revising First Assignment

As I explained in class on Friday, if you are unhappy with your performance on the first assignment (either because the grade is not what you wanted or because you are worried about your ability to comprehend this literature), you have the option of doing it over with a different poem.

The poem I have chosen, Mary Leapor's Epistle to a Lady, is similar in some respects to Leapor's Epistle to Artimesia. The "Lady" it is written to is unknown, but it's not Artimesia. Nevertheless our discussion to date of Leapor's poetry and artistic concerns should help you make sense of this poem, and working on this poem will be a good way to advance your skills in reading later C18 poetry.

The assignment, the expectations, and the grading procedure remain the same as before; the only difference is the poem you're to work with.

This assignment is due in class on Wednesday (2/11).

If we do not score as well on the second assignment as the first, will you keep the higher of the two?

Your instructor here, responding to the query above.

I will keep the higher of the two grades--the important thing here is getting additional practice and feedback if you need it.
